Magic: The Gathering (MTG) News & Rumors

Edition · Oct 6, 2026, 3:36 AM UTC

Wizards adds God Packs to 2027 Multiverse sets at 1 per 1,000 Booster Packs and 1 per 300 Collector Boosters, removes guaranteed common and uncommon foils, and says prices will not change.

— The changes start with Nauctis: The Sunken Realm. Booster Packs can also contain traditional-foil Japan Showcase cards and have higher rare and mythic foil rates; Collector Boosters lose two common and one uncommon foil slot. Wizards expects Universes Beyond sets to adopt the changes in 2028.

Wizards schedules a second 24-hour Zeta Set order window for December 9 and promises to fulfill every order placed then; relaunch orders are estimated to ship in the second half of 2027.

— After investigating checkout errors and a queue pause that left thousands waiting, Wizards says everyone who orders during the December 9 window will receive the Secret Lair. Those relaunch orders are estimated to ship in the second half of 2027; original orders remain on their earlier schedule, and holders can request cancellation by October 9.

Wizards prices Atlanta Festival in a Box at $249.99 for an Oct. 19 Secret Lair sale, bringing a full 24-pack Mystery Booster Commander Edition box to a wide Magic release; two per customer, while supplies last.

— Each of the 24 boosters includes a new-to-Magic Commander, a reprinted Commander, Future Sight frame cards and a playtest card; the package also adds four foil Atlanta Secret Gallery cards and four promos, including the Auspicious Aquarium playtest card. The Secret Lair offer is capped at two per customer while supplies last, with limited quantities also slated for MagicCon Atlanta—not general retail.

Reality Fracture’s Pompous Battlemage pairs a Prowess one-drop with a Prepared rummage spell; MTG Rocks reports a Pioneer Challenge win and early Standard and Modern play.

— The October 4 report says the card is appearing in Izzet Prowess across all three formats, with a Pioneer Challenge win and additional showings in Izzet Phoenix and Goblins. Its spell helps replenish Prowess triggers and discard situational cards; the early results are promising, not proof of lasting dominance.

Corn Maze Superdrop brings eight drops, including Labyrinth, KPop Demon Hunters and Marvel: Zombies, on October 12 at $29.99 nonfoil or $39.99 foil; Wizards says more KPop drops are planned.

— Wizards revealed the full lineup on September 30, including artist, land and Treefolk drops, and a foil Maze of Ith promo for each $199 spent while supplies last. On October 5, Wizards also said more KPop Demon Hunters Secret Lair drops are planned, but gave no card details or dates. Pre-queue opens at 8 a.m. PT, an hour before the October 12 sale.

Reality Fracture upgrades help Rakdos Lizards reach the top four of a Magic Online Standard Challenge, with Master of Barbs amplifying its damage triggers; MTG Rocks says it is too early to call a breakout.

— MTG Rocks reports a top-four result for the refreshed typal list and highlights Master of Barbs alongside its existing noncombat-damage package. The article notes the deck remains vulnerable to removal and board wipes, so one strong finish is an early signal rather than proof of a settled contender.

MTG Arena adds 32 evergreen quests tied to in-store play, including a Draft Token for attending three in-person Booster Drafts and a Rare Wildcard for three Standard events.

— The Wizards Play Network integration, reported by MTG Rocks on October 1, rewards attending local events, playing particular formats and visiting Legendary Stores. Examples include a Draft Token after three in-person Booster Drafts and a Rare Wildcard after three Standard events; the full quest list includes 32 achievements.

Reality Fracture’s October 2 tabletop release has passed, while its best-of-one Sealed Arena Direct runs through October 11; seven wins can earn a Collector Booster box, while supplies last.

— Reality Fracture released for tabletop play on October 2. Wizards says the October 2–11 Arena Direct is best-of-one Reality Fracture Sealed; players with three to six wins earn gems and MTG Arena packs, while seven wins can earn a Collector Booster box only while supplies last.

Wizards sets a Magic panel for October 9 at New York Comic Con and a Nauctis: The Sunken Realm first-look panel for November 13 at MagicCon Atlanta.

— Wizards’ NYCC plans also include Star Trek and Marvel Welcome Decks, a Borg Queen promo while supplies last, and a special Secret Lair available for purchase at the booth. The November panel’s description promises a first look at Nauctis: The Sunken Realm and possible 2027-set news, but does not specify what will be revealed.

MTG Rocks tied Raffine, Scheming Seer’s reported 233% price run-up to The Ur-Sphinx demand; its $7.06 October 2 listing was a snapshot, not a current price, as a Zeta Set reprint looms.

— MTG Rocks said more than 250 near-mint, nonfoil default-frame copies sold after The Ur-Sphinx was revealed, with 2,400-plus Ur-Sphinx lists using Raffine. Its October 2 report compared a $2.18 earlier price with a $7.06 lowest near-mint listing; Wizards has scheduled another Zeta Set order window for December 9, with orders estimated to ship in the second half of 2027, but the price effect is uncertain.

TCGRate’s Oct. 4 TCGplayer tracker lists Oath of Teferi’s Commander Masters copy at $10.29 and Dominaria copy at $7.03, leaving Oct. 1’s $3.16 listing stale.

— TCGRate’s seven-day table, based on daily TCGplayer market snapshots, lists Commander Masters #934 up 757.5% to $10.29 and Dominaria #200 up 420.7% to $7.03 as of Oct. 4. Draftsim linked the demand to new Reality Fracture commanders including Tam; MTG Rocks’ $3.16 near-mint asking price and September sales peak were an earlier snapshot, not current pricing.

Wizards’ $149.99 Odds and Ends Yennett decklist remains a reference, but its September 28–29 24-hour Secret Lair order window has closed; no new sale is confirmed.

— The published list is for a 100-card Esper deck led by Yennett, Cryptic Sovereign, with 12 foil cards featuring new Ricardo Cavolo art and 76 nonfoil reprints. Wizards estimated that additional orders placed during the original window would ship in July 2027 in North America and August 2027 in the EU and UK; those estimates do not indicate a current offer.
